TDAC Common Mistakes: Don't Let a Simple Error Delay Your Trip
The TDAC — Thailand Digital Arrival Card is mandatory for every foreign traveller entering Thailand. For most people, it’s a straightforward process. But every year, thousands of travellers run into problems — not because the form is impossible, but because a small, easily overlooked detail was entered incorrectly.
The official portal, while perfectly functional, requires careful attention to detail. A single inconsistency can be enough to cause delays upon arrival.
TDAC Mistakes That Can Block Your Entry — What Travellers Get Wrong
Based on what we see daily in our processing queue, here are the most common areas where travellers make errors:
Mistake 1 — Passport Information
Your passport number, expiry date and issuing country must match exactly what is written on your document. Not approximately. Not close enough. Exactly. Even a single transposed digit can flag your application.
Mistake 2 — Arrival Date and Flight Details
This seems obvious — but it’s one of the most frequent errors. Travellers confuse departure date with arrival date, or enter the wrong flight number. The Thai immigration system cross-references these details.
Mistake 3 — Accommodation Address
The accommodation field is mandatory and must be complete. A vague entry like ‘Bangkok hotel’ or leaving it partially blank is one of the leading causes of application issues. Full address, hotel name, and city are required.
Mistake 4 — The 72-Hour Window
The TDAC can only be submitted within 72 hours before arrival. Submitting too early means your application will simply not be accepted by the system — with no warning. Many travellers only discover this when it’s too late.
Mistake 5 — Confirmation Lost in Spam
Once submitted, your confirmation QR code is sent by email. It frequently ends up in spam folders. If you don’t have your QR code when you land, you will face delays — regardless of whether you submitted correctly.
These are just the most visible mistakes. Others are more subtle — and often only surface at the immigration counter.
Why TDAC Mistakes Are More Common Than You Think
The official portal is available in English and Thai. The interface, while operational, leaves little room for error correction once a submission is sent. There is no ‘edit’ button after submission. If something is wrong, the process starts again from scratch — inside your 72-hour window.
This is precisely why many travellers choose to delegate the process to specialists who review every field before submission, catch inconsistencies before they become problems, and ensure the QR code lands in your inbox — not your spam folder.

One TDAC Mistake Can Ruin the Start of Your Trip
Thailand is one of the most welcoming destinations in the world. The last thing you want is to arrive at immigration with a problem that could have been avoided. Whether you choose to apply yourself or delegate — take the TDAC seriously. It’s a small step. But it matters.
Safe travels — Thailand is waiting for you.
TDAC Last Minute: What To Do If You Forgot
It happens to the best of us. You’ve packed your bags, checked in online, and suddenly realised — you forgot your TDAC — Thailand Digital Arrival Card, the mandatory digital entry form required for all foreign travellers entering Thailand.
First thing: don’t panic. You still have options.
The TDAC 72-Hour Window: What You Need to Know
The TDAC can only be submitted within 72 hours before your arrival in Thailand. This is a strict rule set by Thai immigration authorities. Not before, not after.
So if your flight lands tomorrow, your window is already open. You still have time.
What You Need to Submit Your TDAC Last Minute
Before you start, make sure you have these three things ready:
- Your passport — number, issuing country
- Your flight details — arrival date, flight number
- Your accommodation address in Thailand — hotel name and address
That’s it. No complicated documents, no embassy visits.
Option 1 — Submit Your TDAC Yourself for Free
The official portal is tdac.immigration.go.th. It’s free. If you’re comfortable with online forms and have 15 to 20 minutes, this is the route for you.
Be careful though — common mistakes include entering passport details incorrectly, selecting the wrong arrival date, or missing required fields. Any error can delay your approval.
Option 2 — Emergency TDAC Service: Done in 4 Hours
If you’re short on time, stressed, or simply don’t want to risk a mistake, our Emergency service submits your TDAC within 4 hours of receiving your information. Your application goes to the top of our queue and is reviewed by our team before submission.
Important: once submitted, your TDAC confirmation is sent directly by the official Thai Immigration system to your email address. We handle the submission on your behalf — but the confirmation you receive is the official government document, exactly the same as if you had applied yourself.
You receive your confirmation QR code directly by email — ready to present at the airport.
If you need it done fast, thailandentry.com handles it for you — they submit within 4 hours.
Arriving in Thailand Without a TDAC: What Happens?
Thai immigration officers will ask for your TDAC upon arrival. Without it, you may face:
- Delays at immigration
- Additional questioning
- Being asked to complete the form on the spot — under pressure, at the airport
It’s always better to have it sorted before you land.
Last Minute TDAC: One Final Tip Before You Land
Once you receive your TDAC confirmation by email, save it in two places — your email and your phone’s photo gallery. And if you can, print it. A dead battery at the airport is the last thing you need.
Safe travels — Thailand is waiting for you.
THIM vs TDAC Thailand — Do You Need Both?
Thailand has just announced THIM — a new immigration app that’s generating a lot of questions among travellers. If you’ve seen it mentioned online and wondered whether it replaces the TDAC, or whether you now need to deal with two separate systems before your trip, here’s a clear answer.
First — What’s the TDAC Again?
The TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) has been mandatory since May 2025. It replaced the old paper TM6 form that used to be handed out on planes. You fill it in online before you fly — within 72 hours of arrival — and receive a QR code confirmation by email to show at immigration.
It’s free. It’s web-based. It works on any device. And it’s still required.
So What is THIM Exactly?
THIM stands for Thailand Immigration Management System. It’s a new mobile app developed by the Thai Immigration Bureau alongside Amazon Web Services. The idea is straightforward: instead of filling in your details from scratch every time you visit Thailand, you register once — using your passport and biometric data — and your profile is stored for future trips.
It’s faster for frequent travellers. It’s more streamlined. And it’s being positioned as Thailand’s future immigration ‘super app’ — eventually covering visa extensions, 90-day reporting for residents, and more.
Full public launch: 1 October 2026. Currently in national pilot phase.
Does THIM Replace the TDAC?
This is the question everyone is asking — and the answer is clear:
No. THIM does not currently replace the TDAC. Both systems exist alongside each other. The TDAC web portal remains the standard entry declaration for all foreign travellers arriving in Thailand.
Think of THIM as a smarter, app-based layer being built on top of the existing system. The TDAC is the foundation. THIM is the evolution. But right now, the foundation is still what you need.
THIM — Pros and Cons for Travellers
The pros:
- One-time registration — no re-entering details on every trip
- Faster processing at immigration — target of under 3 minutes
- Will eventually include visa and residency services
The honest cons:
- Requires a compatible smartphone with NFC — not everyone has one
- Biometric data on a foreign government app — some travellers will decline on principle
- Not fully launched yet — still in pilot phase until October 2026
- First-time visitors and occasional travellers gain little advantage over the standard TDAC web form
Will the TDAC Web Portal Stay?
All signs point to yes — for the long term. Thailand receives over 30 million international visitors a year. The web-based TDAC portal is the most universally accessible option: no app required, no NFC needed, works on any device anywhere in the world. It would be logistically impossible — and economically counterproductive — to phase it out.
The two systems are designed to coexist, serving different traveller profiles.
What Should You Do Before Your Trip?
Simple. Whether THIM exists or not, your immediate checklist remains the same:
- Complete your TDAC within 72 hours of your arrival in Thailand
- Receive your QR code confirmation by email
- Present it at Thai immigration on arrival
If you’d like someone to handle the TDAC for you — Standard or Emergency service available at thailandentry.com.
Two systems, one destination. Thailand is still waiting for you.
